Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohamed is visiting Poland and other key countries in preparation for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP24) in Katowice. Today, she met with Minister of Environment Henryk Kowalczyk and Secretary of State Michał Kurtyka.

The objective of the visits is to consult the views of the countries on the most important issues concerning climate negotiations. The Deputy Secretary-General listened with great interest to ministers on key issues and critical areas to be discussed with the countries visited by Amina Mohamed in order to advance the talks before COP24.

“We are delighted with the support offered to Poland in finding common ground for a successful outcome of negotiations in Katowice. I hope that thanks to this we will be able to adopt the working programme for the Paris Agreement,” said Minister Kowalczyk after the meeting.
